Italy declares bank holiday w/o announcement.

This is just more in the same of the degrading EU and that it's not just a Greece thing. What do you guys think this indicates? Greece very well might exit the EU and write off the debt they owe. They've claimed that Spain is shored up now but does anyone believe that? Anyways, there isn't an English translation and this was posted using google translate.

The Bank of Italy authorized the suspension of payments by Bank Network Investments SpA (BNI) without communicating anything to the depositors.

Very serious and unacceptable – says Peter Jordan, Secretary General Adiconsum – the attitude of the Bank of Italy SpA in each BNI, because highly prejudicial to the interests of customers.

Bank of Italy, in fact, after extending the receivership of the bank, thus giving the impression of an imminent rescue, then gave the green light for compulsory winding up, without giving any prior notice to the depositors, leaving them in no condition to perform any type of operation, even basic ones for daily survival, such as withdrawals / payments, utilities payments, rates, taxes.
What I'm wondering is why the liberals on this forum want us to move to the progressive left style of economics in the US when it's proven that it's doomed to fail. Yes, goober, Krugman is wrong, the government can't spend itself into success.

Re: Italy declares bank holiday w/o announcement.

This has nothing to do with liberalism as the UK is considered liberal and we have to wait until the Queen's been on the throne for at least 50 years before we get an extra day off.
Even if England managed to win the world cup, have a couple be the first to have sex on the moon and invent a new type of super toothbrush all on the same day we still would get an extra day off.

This is one bank and it's a single extra day of Holiday for the people working for them I'm not sure how that counts as an indictment of Liberalism. People can get money out the next day if they are really that bothered.
